Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will look to put last weekend's disappointment behind him as he targets an improved performance in the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, September 4.

The Monegasque copped a five-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane during the Belgian Grand Prix and was demoted to P6 after narrowly beating Alpine-Renault's Fernando Alonso to P5.

Leclerc was overtaken by Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez in the drivers' standings, with the Mexican going five points clear of his rival in second place.

The 24-year-old last finished on the podium four races ago when he won the Austrian Grand Prix - his third victory of the season - although three retirements have all but put him out of contention for the Championship title.

Leclerc concedes his chances of catching Max Verstappen are slim, but he'll continue to apply himself in the final eight races and try to reclaim second spot from Perez at least.

"It starts to look very difficult, especially with the pace [Red Bull] have shown this weekend," he said. "It's going to be very, very difficult, but I'll keep my head down, try to focus race by race and try to do my best."
