Justin Rose will be looking to win his second US Open title when he participates at the Winged Foot Golf Club this week (17-20 September).

The English star, who won his only golf major in 2013 when he clinched the US Open, has had a relatively quiet year.

Rose has also twice been runner-up at the Masters Tournament, in 2015 and 2017 and he will be keen to clinch his second major in New York.

Rose won the US Open by two strokes over Phil Mickelson and Jason Day and he became the first Englishman in 43 years to win the tournament.

The South Africa-born golfer also ended a 17-year major drought for English golfers since Nick Faldo's win at the 1996 Masters Tournament.

Rose went on to win gold in the men's individual tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The towering golfer joined Hall of Fame members Gary Player, David Graham, Hale Irwin and Bernhard Langer as one of only five golfers to win official tournaments on all six continents on which golf is played.

Rose, 40, has disclosed that he is not inspired by fellow golfers and he feels that he will never win 20 golf majors.

“I don’t take inspiration from other golfers as much. Tennis is one area," Rose said.

"I love to watch Roger Federer play tennis, and if I could trend toward that—clearly I’m not going to win 20 [golf] majors the way Federer has won 20 Grand Slams,

"But if I could, I’d tend toward the end of my career as someone who plays freer and freer. Thing is, he had to evolve and learn to become that way over his career.”

The 2020 US Open offers a $12.5 million purse with a winner's share of $2.25 million.
