Francesco Bagnaia will be eager to become the fifth Italian to win the
Australian MotoGP after Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri, Loris Capirossi and Valentino Rossi.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider produced one of his best performances at the 2023 Indonesian MotoGP on 15 October after he started on the 13th grid.
Bagnaia was able to pass several cars and he went on to win the race which saw him collect 25 points at the Mandalika International Street Circuit.
Standings
The man nicknamed Pecco is still placed at the top of the riders' standings having accumulated 346 points from 15 races.
Pecco is 18 points ahead of second-placed Jorge Martin of Ducati with five races left in the current term and it looks like one of the two riders will win the MotoGP world title.
Why Bagnaia could win the 2023 Australian MotoGP
The reigning Moto World champion finished third in last season's Australian MotoGP behind Alex Rins of Suzuki and Honda rider Marc Marquez.
Pecco has won the most races (six) this season and he has what it takes to record his seventh victory this weekend at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
What did he say?
“I think we deserved a race like this,” Bagnaia told TNT Sports after the recent 2023 Indonesian MotoGP.
“Starting in 13th place, doing the first laps and the maximum I could, and then I won it. With Martin going I just said to myself ‘Take care about the tyres and then let’s see’.
“That was the correct thing because in the last ten laps with another pace, I was controlling a lot and I’m very, very happy.”
