2022/23 English Premier League

Matchday 10

Brighton & Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur

American Express Community Stadium
Brighton, England
Saturday, 8 October 2022
Kick-off is at 18h30

Tottenham will be looking to get their Premier League title challenge back on track when they travel south to take on Brighton at the Amex on Saturday, October 8.

Spurs saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end at the hands of bitter rivals Arsenal last weekend as they fell four points behind the league leaders in third place.

Harry Kane (31' PEN) briefly restored parity after Thomas Partey had given the Gunners a 20th-minute lead, with second-half goals from Gabriel Jesus (49') and Granit Xhaka (67') securing the derby spoils.

Antonio Conte felt his team lost the North London derby in the first half, having wasted numerous chances to put the game to bed.

"It's a difficult day because in the first half, we felt the possibility to win the game. We had the possibility to kill the game in the first half and you have to know very well in this type of game, you have to be clinical," Conte told SPURSPLAY.

"I repeat, if I have to complain about something, it's the first half. I think we had many chances and we made mistakes in the last passes, big mistakes. We must be disappointed for this reason."

Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi will be pleased to have registered a point in his first match at the helm after holding Liverpool to a 3-3 draw at Anfield over the weekend.

Leandro Trossard struck seven minutes from time to complete his hat-trick, thus denying the Reds victory as the Seagulls retained fourth position with their 14th point of the campaign.

De Zerbi was beaming after the stalemate, having seen a passionate performance from his players on Merseyside.

“I told the squad in the locker room about my pride in their performance. I wanted the team to play with passion and intensity and that’s what I transmitted to them on the training pitch and they all played a great game.

"It was a crazy game. I am happy and proud for my players and my club. There was a possibility to win the game but Liverpool is a fantastic team. If we had won the game I wouldn't have felt like we had stolen anything here.
