Matchday 16

Liverpool v Southampton

Kick-off is at 17h00

Liverpool will be looking to build on only their fifth victory of the season when they welcome managerless Southampton to Anfield on Saturday, November 12.

The Reds arrested a two-match losing streak in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Tottenham last Sunday thanks to a first-half brace from Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp's side moved up to eighth in the standings, although they remain well off the pace in the title race, some 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Klopp was thrilled to come away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points and hailed the response from his players after Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs with 20 minutes left on the clock.

"Last year we nearly won all four competitions, but drew twice against Tottenham, so winning here is incredibly difficult," the German said after the clash in London.

"It is not about now that we have to play all the time like this or whatever. What we have to show is the attitude, the commitment to defending. That's what we have to show all of the time, definitely, 100 per cent.

"What we have to show is that we are not punched too hard when you concede a goal. I liked that tonight; I didn't want to concede a goal, but I thought the reaction afterwards was good."

The Saints sacked Ralph Hasenhuttl on Monday in the wake of their 4-1 defeat to Newcastle at St Mary's less than 24 hours earlier.

Hasenhuttl's team had slid into the relegation zone after a poor run of the results which had seen them record just two wins in their last 10 league games.

Back-to-back losses against Crystal Palace and the Magpies forced the board's hand with one fixture remaining before the World Cup break.

The Austrian spent nearly four years on the south coast and was the fourth-longest serving manager in the top flight.

"Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men's First Team Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl," the club said in a statement.

"Hasenhuttl departs having made a significant contribution to the club, overseeing some memorable results and also playing a key role in the development of our club infrastructure, identity and playing squad.

"However, we now believe it is an appropriate time to make a change. Everyone involved with the club would like to express their sincere thanks to Ralph for all of his efforts, as well as the unwavering commitment he has shown throughout his time as manager."
