With the NBA Western Conference final on the horizon, Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault reserved a high level of respect for the San Antonio Spurs, while Victor Wembanyama expressed his elation at making it this far.
As perhaps two of the best teams in the NBA currently, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs will do battle in Game One of their conference final assignment at the Paycom Center on Tuesday.
While the Thunder have been dominant in the Western Conference, finishing first in the regular season with 64 wins, the Spurs have already gathered four wins in five games over their upcoming opponents.
Mark Daigneault thus believes the Spurs are ‘worthy opponents’ as they look ahead to a gruelling series.
"It's fitting because both teams earned their way here," Daigneault said.
"It's a team we have a ton of respect for. We know what they're capable of. It's an opponent that is incredibly worthy."

NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, will be hoping for more dominance ahead of their upcoming series against The Spurs, while he expressed his happiness at competing at the highest level in the NBA.
"Just the words 'conference finals,' it's crazy," Wembanyama said.
"It's like something I heard my whole life.
“Now being in it is just special."
