Celta Vigo will be aiming to secure their place in the Europa League when they travel to the Coliseum for a crunch clash with Getafe on the final weekend of the
La Liga season on Saturday, May 24.
The Sky Blues are one of three teams challenging for the final two European berths, with Real Betis having already cemented sixth position in the table.
Claudio Giraldez's side had a chance to seal qualification for Europe against Rayo Vallecano on May 18, but a 2-1 defeat left them just one point above Rayo Vallecano (8th) and Osasuna (9th) in seventh spot.
The Azulones are looking to hang onto 13th place which is the best they can hope for, although Alaves (14th), Girona (15th) and Sevilla (16th) are all breathing down their necks a further point back.
Jose Bordalas' side retained their top-flight status with a 2-1 victory over Real Mallorca on May 18 which arrested a worrying six-game losing streak and took them five points clear of the relegation zone.
Giraldez admitted his players were disappointed to lose their final home game of the season against Rayo, but stressed that they still hold destiny in their own hands.
"I'm proud of the team. The players gave everything, and we were close to winning. I really liked our performance in the second half; we were superior," the Spaniard said.
"Not eight months ago, but three weeks ago I would have signed without hesitation to reach the last matchday depending on ourselves for seventh place. We have an incredible chance to fight for qualification at Getafe, against a team that has already secured safety.
"The players are a bit down because we had it so close, but there's one game left, and qualification is still within reach."
