Current Form

The White and Blues secured a 2-0 win over CA Osasuna away on April 28 as they extended their unbeaten run to three league games.

Sociedad are also undefeated in their last five matches at home having recorded two successive draws and three consecutive wins at the Reale Arena.

On the other hand, Madrid emerged as 4-2 winners over UD Almeria at home on April 29 as they returned to winning ways in La Liga after Girona FC had ended their two-match unbeaten run.

The Whites have lost two of their last three away games while the other game ended in a win over Cadiz CF on the road.

What Is At Stake

Sociedad are currently placed fourth on the league standings - five points above fifth-placed Villarreal CF as the battle to finish in the top four continues.

The White and Blues will be looking to consolidate their position in the top four by defeating title-chasing Madrid.

The Whites are placed second on the standings - 11 points behind leaders FC Barcelona who are set to take on Osasuna on May 2.

Team News

Umar Sadiq, Diego Rico and Martín Merquelanz are the three Sociedad players who are currently injured and the club has no suspension concerns.

Meanwhile, Madrid have no suspension worries and Ferland Mendy is the only player on the club's injury list.

Key Players

Ex-Madrid starlet Takefusa Kubo netted his seventh league goal of the season as Sociedad defeated Osasuna and the Japan international will now be eager to haunt his former employers.

On the other hand, Karim Benzema is Madrid's dangerman having grabbed a hat-trick in their win over Almeria and the French star will be confident of continuing his scoring form.

Quotes

"The match went very well offensively. I know very well what the team is capable of defensively," Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said after their win over Almeria.

"What I don't understand is how we've conceded six goals in two games. What's happened? We relaxed today despite trying to focus on defence.

"We did very well pressing after we lost possession and after we made it 3-0, our concentration slipped and they scored a goal, I got angry in the dressing room and we made it 4-1," he added.

"Then we had another lapse in concentration and they scored again. It's a good wake-up call as we conceded two goals in a short slump. It won't happen in our upcoming games."

Head-to-Head

Sociedad and Madrid drew 0-0 in their last meeting in La Liga and the game was played at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on 29 January 2023.

The Whites are undefeated in their last seven league matches against the White and Blues having recorded three draws and four wins.
