Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will put their respective unbeaten records on the line when they meet in a 2020-21 English Premier League fixture on Wednesday evening.

The Reds are unbeaten in 65 league matches at Anfield while Spurs are yet to lose away from home in the current campaign. Both teams are locked on 25 points after 12 matches atop the league standings.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in their most recent outing with a late Mohamed Salah penalty stretching their unbeaten run in the league to eight matches.

"We didn't really get going until after the first 25, 30 minutes really, which in the Premier League you can't do otherwise you get punished – and we did. So that's disappointing," Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson told Sky Sports in the aftermath.

"The good thing is we reacted well after that, finished the half strongly, came back out in the second half and dominated and maybe should've scored one or two more.

"So, disappointed with the start but pleased with the reaction for the majority of the game. It was a slow start, they started really well, to give credit to them. We'll have to look at it but [it's] not like us. So, we need to move on quickly, another big game coming, but we can't start like that going forward," he concluded.

Spurs themselves were held to a 1-1 draw, but were on the receiving end of a late goal following Harry Kane's opener at Crystal Palace. Despite his team stretching their unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches, manager Jose Mourinho felt his team dropped two valuable points at Selhurst Park.

"I told the players at halftime the exact opposite of what we did in the second half but that's because of what they couldn't do," Mourinho told reporters.

For the fans

"If I look at the last 10 minutes of the game, (it's two points dropped), if I look at the first 45 minutes, yes, but from 45 to 75 minutes we couldn't play or build from the back and we made lots of mistakes.

"A team like them, they can create and fight in the box. If I split the game into three parts – we lost two points."

Kane fired Spurs in front within the opening minute in the corresponding fixture last season but goals from Henderson and Salah secured a 2-1 comeback win for the Merseyside giants.
