Kvyat looks forward to home Grand Prix

2019 Formula 1 season

Round 16, Russian Grand Prix

Sochi Autodrom, Sochi
Sunday 29 September

Scuderia Toro Rosso-Honda driver Daniil Kvyat is hoping for an improved performance in front of his home crowd at the 2019 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi on Sunday.

This weekend's race will mark the sixth time a Formula 1 race is held in Sochi

Kvyat will race in front of his country for the first time since 2017 this weekend, having missed out on last year's race after being dropped by the team and duly taking up a place as a Ferrari development driver.

The 25-year-old, though, will make a return to his home circuit this weekend as he aims to improve on the 12th place finish he managed at the circuit two years ago.

“I think people love Formula 1 here and it’s quite good to see for me," Kvyat said.

“I hope to see a lot of people in the grandstands on Sunday and Saturday, it would mean a lot to me. It would mean also that motor sport in Russia is growing a lot and obviously I’m happy to contribute.”

Kvyat finished 12th at the Russian Grand Prix two years ago

Kvyat's best placed finish in the Formula 1 this year came at the German Grand Prix where he tied his best finish since finishing third in China back in 2016.
