Scottie Scheffler will be seeking redemption at the US Open when he tees off at the Los Angeles Country Club having narrowly missed out on the title in 2022.

What to know about Scheffler

The American superstar has become arguably the best and most consistent golfer in the world since he enjoyed his breakthrough season in the 2021-22 PGA Tour season.

Scheffler has won one major event which was the 2022 Masters Tournament having also finished second at both the PGA Championship and US Open.

News

The reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year came close to winning the recent 2023 Memorial Tournament as he finished third with Viktor Hovland winning the event earlier this month.

Scheffler then took a small break from professional golf as he missed this past weekend's 2023 RBC Canadian Open and he is now set to return to action at the US Open.

Why Scheffler is among the favourites

Scheffler has been very consistent having finished in the top five in his last four PGA Tour events hence he is still placed at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

Having finished second at last year's US Open with his compatriot Brooks Koepka winning the tournament, Scheffler will be eager to go one step further and clinch the trophy this year.

Quotes

“I feel comfortable over the ball. I feel like at the Masters this year I was uncomfortable over my putts. And I really struggled that week the first two days," Scheffler said after finishing third at the 2023 Memorial Tournament.

"The things that I’m working on, I feel a lot of progress. I’m definitely improving inside 10 feet, which has been an area of emphasis for me. “I can’t explain it. It was a bit frustrating this week, because I felt like I was hitting good putts.

“I’ve been really grinding on my setup probably for the past year, probably more like year and a half, and I’ve seen some really good results. It’s something where as I improve, I’ll continue to see more consistent results.’’
