The
2023 German Grand Prix or Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland is set to take place on June 18.
What to know about the German MotoGP
This event was first held in 1925 and it has been part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Championship since 1952.
The German MotoGP is due to take place at the Sachsenring until at least 2026 as part of the agreement between the circuit owners and Dorna Sports.
Most recent race
The Italian MotoGP or Gran Premio d'Italia Oakley which was the sixth event of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season took place on June 11.
The event was won by Francesco Bagnaia while his Ducati teammates Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco finished second and third respectively.
Standings
Bagnaia is still placed at the top of riders' standings followed by second-placed Marco Bezzecchi of Ducati and Martin is placed third.
Looking at the constructors' standings, Ducati are placed at the top - followed by KTM and Aprilia respectively with 14 races left.
Favourites
Bagnaia will be looking to maintain his winning form by clinching the German MotoGP, but he will face stiff competition from his fellow MotoGP world championship contenders.
Bezzecchi and Martin will be keen to boost their title ambitions by winning the race, while Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo will be keen to make it back-to-back German MotoGP title wins.

"We couldn’t make a great race today," Quartararo said after finishing 11th at the 2023 Italian MotoGP and he is now looking forward to this year's German MotoGP.
"I noticed already this morning that I was not feeling so great on the bike. The tyre choice also didn’t work out. We should have gone with the soft rear tyre instead of the medium for the race.
"We are having a tough moment. Let’s see what we can do at the Sachsenring."
