Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea will contest a London derby in the Florida Cup on Sunday, July 24 as part of their pre-season preparations.

Both teams are on tour in the United States, with the Gunners having already beaten Everton 2-0 in a friendly in Baltimore, while the Blues edged Club America 2-1 in the Clash of Nations series in Paradise.

The north Londoners have the upper hand in recent head-to-head meetings, boasting four wins in their last five encounters with their city neighbours.

Mikel Arteta's side most recently triumphed 4-2 in a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on April 20 after last season's EFL Cup and FA Cup finalists emerged 2-0 victors in the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium on August 22.

Arteta has been impressed with the intensity shown by his squad during training and hailed their American supporter-base for providing an extra spark for the players.

"The development has been really good," the Spaniard said. "Honestly, the way they've been training has been phenomenal - the best since I've been here.

"The togetherness around the group, the quality that they've shown, the intensity in how they train. They are different standards."

Commenting on the support, he added: "They feed (off it). We have had that around the training ground, and around the hotel.

"So thank you so much, it's been a really good camp so far. We are leaving tomorrow for Orlando, so I think the boys will have a good memory about this trip."

New signings Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly have joined Thomas Tuchel's squad in the United States, although Tino Anjorin, Billy Gilmour, Harvey Vale and Armando Broja were cut from the touring party.

"It is never easy and I did not like to do it because everybody deserves to stay with the squad," Tuchel said on reducing his squad to 24 players.

"But we have a very big squad already and then players came additionally and some other players like Mateo Kovacic are now fit to train with the group again.

"It is a very difficult decision because nobody deserves to go. I would have loved to have everybody here because Tino, Harvey and Billy have trained on a very high level and it would have been also nice to see them in some matches.

"But in the end we had to take the decision to keep the quality up high in training so we decided on 24 players as a maximum. That is why we made the group a bit smaller."
