Napoli head into the fixture having lost three of their last five matches following a 4-2 defeat at Atalanta last weekend. The result has increased growing pressure on Gattuso whose team also suffered unfavourable defeats in both the Coppa Italia and Europe League in recent weeks.

Gli Azzurri head into this weekend's round of fixtures in seventh spot on the league standings, 13 points behind leaders Inter.

Benevento haven't won in seven league matches following a 0-0 draw at home to Roma but will take confidence from the fact that they played most of the second-half with 10-men, following Kamil Glik's sending off.

Gli Stregoni have slumped back into a relegation fight and currently occupy 15th place with 10 points separating themselves and the drop zone.

“We were lions tonight. I am so proud, as it feels like we won, having held out with 10 against 11 with a Roma side that could introduce [Edin] Dzeko, [Stephan] El Shaarawy and Pedro off the bench,” Benevento head coach Filippo Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“If you don’t play like this against Roma, you will concede five goals. We knew that we’d get opportunities on the counter, which we did, but obviously once we went down to 10 men before the hour mark, I thought we had no chance.

“Instead, these lads proved once again how great they are. If we continue like this, we can really stay in Serie A.”

Napoli beat Benevento 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Stadio Ciro Vigorito earlier this season. The hosts opened the scoring through Roberto Insigne before goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Andrea Petagna sealed all three points for the visitors.
