Hammers look to strike down Wolves

West Ham United will chase a home victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers when the teams meet at the London Stadium on Sunday 15 March 2020, kick-off at 16:00. The match is one of 10 spread from 14 to 16 March for the 30th round of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

West Ham found themselves on the losing side yet again, as they were beaten 1-0 away to London rivals Arsenal this past weekend to remain very much in danger near the relegation zone.

“We created enough chances to win more than one game today; it’s maybe the most chances I’ve had when I’ve come to Arsenal [in my career],” said manager David Moyes. “We did really well, but the result wasn’t good.

Our mistakes were up front today; we had chances to win the game, we had chances to score goals, but we didn’t get them. We’ve made mistakes defensively at different times, but the chances were there today to win the game, and we didn’t take them.”

Wolverhampton, meanwhile, extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five matches, though they still would have been disappointed with a 0-0 draw at home to struggling Brighton & Hove Albion.

“I think we didn’t perform so well,” said manager Nuno Espirito Santo. “It was a game of not too many chances, I think both teams were really organised. We have to circulate the ball faster. We have to improve those things.”

In head-to-head stats, West Ham and Wolverhampton have met in 64 previous matches. The Hammers have claimed 29 wins compared to 21 for Wolves, while 14 games have been drawn.

When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at Molineux Stadium in December 2019, Wolverhampton claimed a 2-0 home win thanks to goals from Leander Dendoncker and Patrick Cutrone.
