The Zambia Women’s National Team is gearing up to face Ghana in Ghana on Friday, February 23rd, for the first leg of the third round Paris 2024 Olympic Women's Football qualifiers match.

The Copper Queens' last Olympic appearance was in 2020, where they were eliminated in the group stage. However, Captain Barbra Banda made history by becoming the first player to score back-to-back hat-tricks at the Tokyo Olympics, with Zambia being the sole African representative at the tournament.

Should Zambia secure qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics, it would mark their second appearance in the tournament. Captain Barbra Banda asserts that the Copper Queens are neither intimidated by the Black Queens nor will they underestimate them.

"We understand the significance of this match and why we're here. It will undoubtedly be a tough game, especially being away from home, but we are fully focused. We've played numerous games, even at higher levels," said the China-based captain.

Banda emphasized that while many players in the Copper Queens squad are young, they possess experience and are fully capable of delivering results. "Although our squad comprises mostly young players, they are resilient and experienced. They have what it takes to get the job done, and they will deliver," she added.

The return leg is scheduled for February 28th at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
