The race for the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot award is heating up as players eye the accolade.

The Portugal international is enjoying his best season at Liverpool FC having scored eight goals in 14 games and he is currently placed third on the league's goalscoring charts.

A speedy forward blessed with an eye for goals, Jota scored three goals in three matches in November 2021 and he was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.

The 25-year-old is up against two of the most prolific attackers in England in the race for this season's league Golden Boot accolade, Mohamed Salah and Jamie Vardy.

The veteran English striker seems to have rediscovered the form which saw him scoop the Golden Boot award during the 2019/20 season.

Known for his high work rate, relentless running, and direct approach, Vardy is placed second on the league's scoring charts with nine goals in 15 matches.

Vardy scored 23 goals when he won the Golden Boot - beating Salah to the award and the duo is now going head to head for the prize in the current campaign.

The Egyptian superstar has looked unstoppable this season - scoring 13 goals in 15 matches which sees him at the top of the league's scoring charts.

Salah, who is predominantly known for his speed, clinical finishing, and dribbling skills, has set his sights on winning his third Premier League Golden Boot award this term.

Regarded by some as the best player in the world at the moment, Salah is the favourite to win this season's prize having clinched it in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 campaigns.

"Hopefully many more! My first target is to win something with the club: Champions League, Premier League, hopefully, both. That’s the main target for everyone," Salah said.

“It’s a great result. To come here and win the game, play good football and score four goals is unbelievable. It’s something positive we take from the game.

“The message from the manager was: they’re going to play physically strong, going to go and challenge 100 percent for every ball," he continued.

“We just need to play our game and just keep the ball, and try to create good chances, which is what we did.”
