2023 BMW Championship is scheduled to take place at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois, USA between 17 and 20 August.
What to know about the tournament
Established in 2007, the BMW Championship was previously known as the Western Open and the penultimate FedEx Cup playoff event on the PGA Tour schedule.
The Western Golf Association, which founded and ran the Western Open, runs the BMW Championship, and it was named PGA Tournament of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
The BMW Championship is the longest-running regular PGA Tour event on the calendar outside of the four major tournaments.

The Western Golf Association has announced that the top 50 players in the PGA Tour FedExCup standings will compete in the 2023 BMW Championship
They will be looking to win the historic J.K. Wadley Trophy and earn one of 30 spots in the season-ending Tour Championship.

Headlining the star-studded field are defending champion Patrick Cantlay, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm, winner of the 2020 BMW Championship.
Top winners on the PGA Tour in 2023 – Lucas Glover, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland, Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler and Brian Harman – are also set to play.
Furthermore, past BMW Championship winners Jason Day and Keegan Bradley will tee off at the Olympia Fields Country Club.
What Is At Stake
This tournament has a $20 million purse with quadruple FedExCup points on offer. The winner of the no-cut event will receive $3.6 million and 2,000 FedExCup points.
Elevated points provide increased volatility down the stretch, with the top 30 on the FedExCup standings at week’s end advancing to the 2023 Tour Championship.
