2024/25 La Liga
Matchday 34
Valladolid v Barcelona
José Zorrilla Stadium
Valladolid, Spain
Saturday, 3 May 2025
Kick-off is at 21:00
Already relegated Valladolid will have a task on their hands when they host Copa del Rey champions Barcelona in a
La Liga clash to be played at the José Zorrilla Stadium on Saturday evening, 3 May.
Valladolid’s relegation from the league was confirmed last Thursday night, as they suffered a 5-1 defeat to Real Betis. The club subsequently released a statement on social media, apologising for not “wearing the shirt with dignity”.
Fans of the club were incredibly unhappy, blaming their drop from the top-flight on Ronaldo Nazario, who has been heavily criticised for his ownership of the club.
“An owner who bought the club to make quick money from an urban planning scheme, and when he realised he couldn’t do it, took all of the money out of the club,” read the statement from loyal fans of Valladolid.
Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is said to be an inspiration to young fans of the club on the other hand, and he’s proud of that fact.
"When I was a kid, I wore Neymar's shirts, Messi's jerseys, all these players, so seeing kids wearing my shirt means that I'm their inspiration, at least in football,” said Yamal.
"It's something I never thought would happen so fast: [seeing] those 13-year-old kids in the shirt of a kid who's only four years older than them. It is amazing.”

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is impressed with manager Hansi Flick’s style of play, saying it was much needed for the team.
After the victory, he offered congratulations to Barcelona supporters and praised the team's evolving style of play under the new coach.
He spoke on how much the game has evolved and was particularly impressed by an “extraordinary level of physicality, commitment, technique, and footballing ambition.”
