As the 2023/2024 season is coming to an end, the competition is heating up. Some teams are battling to avoid relegation, while others are aiming for the title. This week, we have some exciting
mid-week football matches scheduled for Wednesday, April 17th, and April 18
th 2024.
In week 28, there will be matches in different provinces. In Lusaka, there are two matches, four in Copperbelt, one in North Western province, and one in Central Province. However, the match between FC MUZA and Nkwazi FC in Southern province has been postponed to next week.
In Lusaka, Zanaco will play against Green Buffaloes at Sunset Stadium in a local derby. Zanaco has had two draws in their last two games, while Buffaloes managed a win and a draw. Zanaco is currently 9th with 35 points, and Green Buffaloes are 10th with 34 points.
In Kabwe, Kabwe Warriors, standing 6th, will host Kansanshi Dynamos, who are struggling near the bottom. Kansanshi Dynamos have won only five out of 27 games and have 26 points.
At the bottom of the table are Trident with 19 points, followed by Prison Leopards with 26 points, Kanshinshi Dynamos also with 26 points, and Mufulira Wanderers with 30 points. These four teams are in the relegation zone as we enter week 28.
Red Arrows lead the table with 57 points, seven points ahead of Zesco United with 50 points. Red Arrows have won 17 out of 27 games, drawn 6, and lost 4, while Zesco United has won 13, drawn 11, and lost 3. With just a few games left, Red Arrows are looking like strong favorites for the league title. They will face Zesco United at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Power Dynamos’ chances of defending the title seem to be fading. They collected only one point out of six in their last two games, drawing against Zanaco and losing to Arrows. They are fourth on the table with 46 points. Power Dynamos will play Mutondo Stars at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
