Francesco Bagnaia will be eager to become the first rider to successfully retain the
Spanish Grand Prix title since 2019 when Marc Marquez clinched this race.
What to know about Bagnaia
The Italian star is one of the best motorcycle racers in the world at the moment having been crowned 2022 MotoGP World Champion and 2018 Moto2 World Champion.
Bagnaia, who is the first rider from the VR46 academy to win a world title in the premier class, has been a Ducati rider since he made his MotoGP debut in 2019.

After dominating Saturday, April 15 by first taking the pole position and then winning the Sprint race, Bagnaia started as the big favourite for Sunday's American MotoGP on April 16.
Unfortunately, Bagnaia, who is nicknamed Pecco, suffered a tumble, which ended his race early as he was forced to retire.
Why he could win the Spanish MotoGP
Pecco will be keen to redeem himself when he competes in the Spanish MotoGP having won the first race of the current 2022 season which was the Portuguese MotoGP on March 26.
The 26-year-old, who won seven races in the 2022 MotoGP season, knows what it takes to win at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto.
What did he say?
"For the second weekend in a row, I crashed: I can't give myself an explanation, making it even harder to accept," Bagnaia said after the American MotoGP.
"I made a mistake, but at the moment, I don't understand what it was. It was a very strange fall, and now I will ask my team to analyze the data well to understand what happened.
"I know the Championship is still very long, but we have thrown away 45 points in the last two GPs, and it is definitely not the best."
