Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Brad Binder will be targeting his second podium finish of the new season in the Argentine Grand Prix on Sunday, April 3.

The South African secured P2 in the first race of the year, finishing 0.346 seconds behind Gresini Racing's Enea Bastianini in the Qatar Grand Prix.

But Binder, who has two MotoGP victories to his name in only his third year as a premier-class rider, encountered problems with his bike in the Indonesian Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old qualified fourth on the grid, but a rear ride height device issue meant he could only manage P8 in the wet weather.

However, Binder insists he was fortunate to complete all 20 laps on the Mandalika International Street Circuit, which felt like a victory to him, while claiming his race would have been disastrous had it not rained.

"I'm really disappointed because I felt really good all weekend, especially on the wet tyres," he said. "After the start my ride height device, something happened, I don't know what.

"Every time I braked it would come up. I'd turn, let go of the brake and it would drop down again. I did the whole race with the ride height device completely down. Considering I finished 8th I think it's a win.

"If it was a dry race I wouldn't have been able to do anything. Because of the circumstances today, we got really lucky and managed to finish in 8th place.

"In general I'm happy. I managed to bring the bike home, which was really difficult. It doesn't turn when the ride height device is down. It was really difficult."
