La Liga
Matchday 9
Malaga vs Real Sociedad
La Rosaleda
Malaga, Spain
Sunday, 18 October 2026
Kick-off is at 18:30
As one of the top performing teams in
La Liga currently, Real Sociedad could make it three wins on the bounce in the Spanish La Liga when the meet the struggling Malaga on Sunday.
Sociedad find themselves sixth on the table after taking home 13 points from their first eight league assignments.
Regarding their form, Sociedad recorded back-to-back wins over Valencia and Deportivo last time out as they turned the tide following a damaging 3-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid on 13 September.
While Sociedad rides the wave of momentum, Malaga have been struggling to swim in 20th position after eight games played.
Malaga are the only team in LaLiga currently without a win, as they noted four draws and four defeats heading into this weekend’s action.
Following losses to Villareal and Getafe, Malaga could only manage a 1-1 draw with Espanyol at home in their most recent La Liga fixture.

Despite grabbing maximum points during matchday eight, Real Sociedad coach Pellegrino Matarazzo lamented his side’s overall performance and expressed that there’s much to learn regarding their game play.
“I take many things from this match, many things that we can do better, many things that we need to improve,” Matarazzo said.
“Offensively, build-up, against the high press, even against the low block, just not playing fast enough.
“Not clinical enough, not breaking lines. I’m not happy with the chances we created in that way.”
