2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 8
Sevilla v Barcelona
Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan
Seville, Spain
Sunday, 5 October 2025
Kick-off is at 16h15
Barcelona will be keen to keep the momentum going when they travel to the southwest of Spain to face Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan on Sunday, October 5.
The defending champions extended their unbeaten start to the new
La Liga season with a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad on September 28 - their fifth win on the spin.
Hansi Flick's side knocked Real Madrid off the summit as a result after their arch-rivals tasted defeat for the first time in 2025-26 with a 5-2 hammering at the hands of Atletico Madrid on September 27.
The Blaugrana went one point clear of Los Blancos at the top of the table and are just one of two teams who have yet to lose in the league this term, the other being newly-promoted Elche.
The Palanganas returned to winning ways when they beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 on September 28, having suffered a 2-1 loss to Villarreal five days earlier after going unbeaten in their previous three outings.
Matias Almeyda's side, who lost their opening two matches of the campaign against Athletic Bilbao and Getafe, find themselves just three points outside the UEFA Champions League places in 10th position.
The Andalusian outfit's record against Barca is poor though, having lost eight of their last 10 encounters and you'd have to go all the way back to 3 October 2015 for their last win (2-1).
Flick expressed pride in his players for the way they reacted after going behind against Sociedad on 31 minutes, claiming the comeback win will do wonders for their confidence.
"We found it very difficult, but we also deserve this win. I really appreciate how my team is playing, how they perform," the German said.
"It doesn't matter if we change the starting XI a bit, because they all give their all and I love that. I am very proud. It's incredible. I am very happy for them and for the fans. I think this victory will really help us keep improving."
