Pedro Acosta is motivated to bounce back at the Italian MotoGP after a strong but heartbreaking Catalan MotoGP weekend.

At the Catalan MotoGP on May 17, the Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer took pole position and finished second in the Sprint race.
In the main Sunday race, Acosta led for most of the distance but was involved in a last-lap incident that forced his retirement.
MotoGP ambitions
The 22-year-old sits fourth in the 2026 MotoGP Riders' standings with 92 points.
Nicknamed "El Tiburón de Mazarrón" (The Shark of Mazarrón), Acosta is 50 points behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.

“I had an electric problem. In the straight I went from going full gas to not having any throttle in the hand. Everything went really badly," Acosta said after the 2026 Catalan MotoGP.
"A short day and not too many things to try. We worked on some engine mappings and other set-up. Everything was working quite well. We have to keep working in the way we are doing because I’ve been competitive in the last races.”
