2025 Club World Cup
Matchday 3 - Group D
ES Tunis v Chelsea
Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia, United States
Wednesday, 25 June 2025
Kick-off is at 03h00 CAT

Chelsea need a result against ES Tunis at Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday, June 25 to keep their 2025 Club World Cup hopes alive.

The Blues find themselves second in Group D behind Brazil's Flamengo (6) after picking up three points from their opening two matches in the revamped intercontinental competition.

Enzo Maresca's side began their campaign in the United States on a positive note after beating Los Angeles FC 2-0 on June 16 courtesy of goals in each half from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez.

The West Londoners got off to a flying start against the Big Mengo four days later, with Neto on target again as he opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, but they conceded three goals in the second half to lose 3-1, having also seen Nicolas Jackson receive a straight red card.

The Blood and Gold are breathing down their necks in third place, with goal difference all that is separating the two teams ahead of their crunch clash in Philadelphia.

Maher Kanzari's side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Flamengo on June 17, although they bounced back with a 1-0 win against LAFC four days later when Youcef Belaili shone and scored the all-important goal on 70 minutes.

Second place is the best that either club can hope for after they were both beaten by the Rio giants and it is highly likely that Bayern Munich will be the opponent in the round of 16 as Group C winners.|

Maresca is seeking a response from his players after admitting that the game against Flamengo was flipped on its head in the space of just six second-half minutes.

"[They are ] six minutes that completely changed the dynamic of the game," the Italian said. "I think, until their first goal, we had started the second half much better, but then two goals in two minutes and the red card changed the dynamic of the game.

"It's very important [to show a reaction in the next game. We need to win on Tuesday to make sure we get through to the next stage."
