Marc Marquez will be confident of bouncing back strongly by clinching a record-equaling German MotoGP title and closing the gap in the championship.
Most recent race
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider had a challenging Netherlands MotoGP at Assen on 28 June, finishing seventh after a drop-one-place penalty while running in the top group.
The result allowed further ground to be lost to the leaders as the Aprilia duo battled at the front.
MotoGP ambitions
Marquez, who is widely considered one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time, sits fifth in the 2026 MotoGP Riders’ standings with 153 points.
The 33-year-old trails championship leader Jorge Martín by 40 points and will be looking to use his Sachsenring mastery to mount a charge back towards the top of the table.
Why Marc Marquez could win the German MotoGP
The Cervera-born legend, who won the 2025 German MotoGP, has already secured two wins in 2026 despite some early-season setbacks.
Having won 12 German MotoGP titles, Marquez will be keen to equal Giacomo Agostini's record of 13 trophies, and also move closer to the pacesetters in the MotoGP championship battle.
Quotes
“I feel quite good. Today, the best result would have been fifth place, but we still finished the weekend on a positive note with seventh in the race," Marquez said after the 2026 Netherlands MotoGP.
"The goal was to wait until the final ten laps before trying to push a bit more, and I managed to do so while riding in a precise and smooth manner. Unfortunately, here at Assen, a coming together at the final chicane is never to be ruled out.
"Now the goal is to continue resting and recovering, as this weekend was quite demanding. The aim is to arrive at the Sachsenring in better physical condition in order to do our best and head into the summer break in the best possible situation.”
